Welcome to MISSIONS at WOCON

Juba, South Sudan Work and Witness Update

The time is drawing near for the June Work and Witness trip to Juba, South Sudan.  We need to pay for the plane tickets by April 1 and have only raised $17,275.42 so far.  As of today, 11 people have paid their $100 deposits; 4 more have expressed a desire to go and 3 have submitted their applications.

If 15 go, we will need to raise $45,000....$3,000 per person.  $34,500 (twice what we have) will be due on April 1.

People who want to participate in giving should give their contribution to Arlita Harris (payable to Western Oaks CON) or put it in the offering with Work and Witness - Juba on the subject line.

Work and Witness Trip to White River S.D.

In the Church of the Nazarene, we believe the great commission, Matthew 28:19-20, applies to all believers. However, as a denomination, we have combined our resources to reach people many of us would otherwise never have the opportunity to reach.  The Church of the Nazarene's global missions program is bringing the Word of God to all His people. We currently have missionaries serving in the following regions: Africa,Asia-Pacific, Caribbean, Eurasia, Mexico/Central America and SouthAmerica.

Many people in our local church contribute countless hours along with their offerings to many different types of mission opportunities in our denomination including the Nazarene mission organizations listed below.

Nazarene Missions International (NMI) is the organizational representative of missions for the Church of the Nazarene on the regional, district, and local levels.  Our Mission Statement is: To mobilize the church in mission through prayer, education, giving, and interactive experiences.

Work and Witness.  Over 150,000 people have been mobilized through Work & Witness since its beginning in 1974. Resulting in more than 5000 years of donated labor worldwide. Work & Witness teams go to every region of the world and partner with local churches in construction projects, technical needs, evangelism and compassionate ministries.

Nazarene Disaster Response (NDR) is the grassroots response of Nazarenes to their communities when natural and human-made disasters strike. Local Nazarenes are in a unique position to understand, serve, and remain with disaster victims in their neighborhoods. In large-scale events the denomination can come alongside local efforts with the support of volunteers and donors from across the country.

Western Oaks Nazarene Church has been involved in many mission opportunities.  Several of our college students have participated in mission trips just this past year to Africa, India and Haiti.  We sent a group on a work and witness trip to an Indian reservation in South Dakota in August.  At Western Oaks we take our call to reach others with the gospel and to spread the love of Jesus very seriously.  Missions is our passion and our call.
